XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Over the past two weeks, I've been playing XCOM: Enemy Unknown on the PS3 like crazy. When I was a child, I loved tactical strategies games. Fire Emblem (GBA, Sacred Stones, Path of Radiance, Radiant Dawn or whatever), Final Fantasy Tactics (all variants), Tactics Ogre, Suikoden Tactics, you name it.

In XCOM, you are a commander of a project called The XCOM Project (yeah, that's right). You will lead a small unit of 4 (base) to 6 soldiers to take on various mission throughout the game. These missions include abduction, terror mission, UFO Crash/Landing sites, VIP Escort, deactivating a bomb, and others. Soldiers are promoted or "level up" as they kill a certain amount of enemies. Once promoted, you can select a 1 ability out of 2 of the rank you unlock. Each soldier you command are categorized into 4 classes. The four classes are Assault (front-line soldiers), Support (Various duties based upon situation), Heavy (Offensive class), and a Sniper (self explanatory). By balancing which classes to bring for certain types of alien encounters can highly effect the outcome of your mission.

It is important to note that certain missions also affect countries likely-hood of leaving the XCOM project. This is shown once you are in HQ and going into the Situation Room. Certain missions such as abduction for example provides three different sites to save, which each place offering different rewards (money, soldiers, engineers or researchers). Now here is the catch. You can only choose ONE of the three sites. In doing so, the ONE you choose will have a reduce of panic while the other two sites you didn't choose will have a rise in panic. Tough choices to make, with varying consequences.

All activities other then mission are at HQ. In the HQ hub, you can buy or build weapons, ships, armour at the Engineering Lab. You can research specific items for additional bonuses, weapons, armour, or aircraft at the Research Lab but some require a certain amount of days to past. Barracks is where you can view all your soldiers, change their equipment, customize their appearance or hire new ones. There is also this antfarm like structure where you can build facilities that either create more power, allow more satellites to launch or reduce the amount of days to research things. 

I've been on a massive rage about this game as it brought back old memories. The best part is that the games is very unfriendly on Impossible Mode (the highest/toughest difficulty). It can be very punishing if you don't know how to take on certain missions without a based knowledge of what is coming up.

Overall, I love this game. From it's cool art style, to all the death of my squad-mates (you get attached to them... trust me) to considering long-term rewards to short-term rewards. XCOM keeps you on your feet as you struggle to balance all of it's component as you save the world.

Life Update 1.02

Bah, I should be doing my homework that is due tomorrow... hahaha, but I'm writing this entry so...
Currently, today (December 4th) was my last day at my placement for my 1st semester. I'm going to miss the children there dearly. Will always remember them and hoping that they don't forget me too quickly haha.
They also made me a small book with all their hand prints which I thought was the cutest thing ever, and I balled (yes, I cried my ass off, I really enjoy where I work. shows commitment).

Here it is, I will always keep it.

2nd Semester starts in January, so I believe I will have time to actually write on my blog site. (Kinda need a better hobby and avoid feeding my gaming addiction).

On the topic of gaming addiction. I believe I am addicted to video games. As in I "have" the need to get every game and I do sometimes (not at full price). I able to restrain myself from buying like 10 brand new games and spread them out. I just have so many games that I'm unable to beat them all. Its horrible, I know.
But I can deal with it, I know I should not let get out of control. Plus I have my girlfriend and my extremely close buddy who care for my health and watch over me. (love you guys if you are reading this.)

Life Update 1.0

My Life Update

Intro

     So it's been awhile since I lasted used this blog. I guess this calls for a life update of where I currently am at this time. I should really start using this more, it could develop into a better hobby than playing games 24/7. Haha, nah I'm just kidding. I go to school too.

Social

     Currently working at West River Banquet hall as a server. Working minimum wage, 1 day a week, which doesn't really provide anything for me. Planning on working at Boston Pizza or EBGames. I had an interview with EBGames already so I'm waiting for an update at the moment. Still with my girlfriend, been 4 years now on the 7th of November. Still living in the same area.

Education

     I graduated High School this year in the month of June. I am currently enroll at Seneca College for Early Childhood Education (in short ECE). Its a program where I learn how to properly assist children with their development at a different milestones. This includes infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers and school-age children. I've have always enjoyed working with children and I feel that I was born in this life to contribute to the best of my abilities to help children with their learning. The program is a 2 year course, and so far for first semester, I'm really loving it. I learnt many new things and still will learn many new things that I could use to incorporate once I become and ECE (though I use them on my little bro as practice). I also plan on attending Teacher's College to become a full-fledged teacher. College is going great, lots of work, little sleep and great colleges.

     In gaming related news, I got myself a PS3 and a PSVITA, which have been my goal for years to obtain and now I have them. As you can see in the picture above, my small collection of PS3 games so far and a shit ton of X360 games. Right now, I'm in admits of building my collection for the PS3 and the VITA. I already have a few games in mind to get once I have the money but if you can suggest me a game to get, that would be appreciated. =) I got a 250G PS3 with 2 controllers for $230 from Kijiji, which in my opinion was a GREAT DEAL! Haha, and I got the White VITA that I've been waiting for ages (not really) to come here in North America. So here are a few photos that sum VERY little of what is going on with my gaming life.

Persona 4 Golden: Solid Gold Premium Edition

PERSONA 4 GOLDEN: SOLID GOLD PREMIUM EDITION UN-BOXING

          So two days ago, I went into Purolator to pick up 1 of the only 10,000 ever going to be made of Persona 4 for the VITA. I just want to run through some of the contents that come in the box (if you haven't seen it yet.) Shall we begin?

Persona 4 Carrying Case

So first off we have the limited persona 4 carrying case. Now in the picture it would seem pretty compact and small. Its actually pretty big (but still portable) than it looks on a computer screen. It has a felted inner coat and a small flap that covers the screen. You can also carry three VITA games on the flap. Now what was also inside was the Persona 4 Face Cover for the VITA. I forgot to take a picture but basically what it's called. A face cover. If covers around the VITA and the front. The back of it is exposed so you can use it when you lift the front off.

I'm happy it came with the case and not just the game card.

Next up is just the game itself.

For people like me who actually wants a game with its case, then feel happy if you got the Solid Gold Edition. To me personally it feels like I have a complete game.

PERSONA 4 VITA SKIN!

The Solid Gold Edition also comes with a VITA skin for the front.

Now in the picture it is shown that I have two. For this reason, it was because I pre-ordered it online and as a promotion for pre-ordering Persona 4 Golden, you get the skin for free. :)

Now the last thing that comes with the Solid Gold Edition is the sticker set.

Nothing really fancy but they are really nice to have and look at. =D

Seitokai Yakuindomo aired in Japan on July 4th, 2010 to September 26th, 2010. I was with visiting my dad during the summer which I do every year, and I usually watch anime, play videos, watch T.V, play with my little sister or play video games. All the stuff that makes you forget about all that hard work of studying go down the drain like no tomorrow. SO while I was scrolling through a bunch of anime, I happen to spot this one. It had just come out recently (mostly likely like I saw it after 4-5 days, which is enough to see it get subbed), and I love the style of the artwork for the cover, so I was like "Hey, this looks like a decent anime, might as well check it out." and I did. I shit you not, I L-O-V-E this anime every since that day. I have watched it over and over again, and laughed at every single moment like a girl. Of all the comedy anime I have watched, this cracked me up like crazy, of all it's dirty sex jokes to sexual innuendos. Okay, let just to the just of the story in the anime.

Takatoshi Tsuda

Takatoshi Tsuda is a male lead in the anime, where he had just applied and enter into Osai Academy, which is school that has been gender-integrated to a co-ed that until been recently a all-girls school. Tsuda picked Osai because it was an easy walking distance and he just wanted to live normally, but he has been forced to join the Osai Academy Student Counsel as a male representative. Tsuda often acts as the anime's tsukkomi or boke routine, where someone makes an outrageous statement and the voice of reason butts in with a quirky retort, a frustrated exclamation or a sensible lament. Tsuda is one of the leveled character in the anime, and it provides the most of the comedy with his dry sensed humor and off-the-cuff remarks that goes well with the dirty comments that are said in the anime. 

Shino Amakusa

He is joined by 3 fellow Student Council members, first being the President, Shino Amakusa (who I LOVE so much), who is a serious and diligent, talented in most of her class (especially Health Class), and loved among many students. However, she is always thinking about perverted thoughts and only interested with Tsuda for her curiosity of not much information about males in health class. 

Aria Shichijou

The second character to follow Shino is Aria Shichijou (who is HOT), the student council's secretary, and Shino's best friend. She is almost exactly like Shino, as she is also thinking of perverted thoughts and has a hig interest in bondage and anal play... (eww). Aria is also airhead and often gets lost in her thoughts. Aria comes from a rich family and is mature in appearance.

Suzu Hagimura

Lastly and not the least, my favourite character of them all! Suzu Hagimura! Suzu is the student council's treasurer, and is the smallest out of all the cast members, which leads to her Napoleon Complex. Suzu is the most mature character, and is a super genius with an IQ of 180, and is often mistaken for an elementary school student. If mock about her height or anything that would be related about being tall or short, she would rage about it. 


There are also many other minor characters, but they also have their own quirks, but adds even more humor to the show. It is an awesome anime if you are looking to past time and really want a couple of laughs if you get most of the jokes they use in here. I would recommend you guys to watch this funny anime, you would get a blast out of it. Here the opening to the anime if you guys want to see whats it like. :D

There are a total of 13 episodes, plus the OVA which is the sequel or continuation of the anime, though I don't know how long it will go. So far there is 2 OVA episodes.
